Ceiling Fan Lighting

Finding the right fixture and lights is an important step to create the best possible ceiling fan lighting.

Over the years, the traditional ceiling fan has evolved.  When they first came around, the ceiling fan’s sole purpose was to provide air circulation to whatever room or office they were placed in.  Over time however, they began to become more purposeful than that.  Once lights were introduced to the ceiling fan, everything changed.  Now, a ceiling fan still maintains its original aforementioned purpose, but is just as often used as an important lighting tool.  Ceiling fan lighting is an incredibly important aspect to take into consideration when purchasing a ceiling fan as well as when you are dealing with where to place it.

Ceiling fans and ceiling fan light kits can often be bought as a complete package.  This is an economical thing to do since the two products will most likely be cheaper when purchased together as opposed to separately.   If you do not choose to go down this path, it is a good idea to have an idea of how much light the room you are installing your ceiling fan and ceiling fan lighting in requires.  The amount of ceiling fan lighting you need depends on a bunch of variables, such as the size of the room, the amount of windows available in the room, and the color of the walls of the room, amongst other factors.

In general, the larger the room, the more ceiling fan lighting will be required. As a rule of thumb, it is always a good idea to place the ceiling fan in the center of the room, which looks good from an interior decorating point of view, as well as being a beneficial method of providing air flow and light to all areas of the room.  If the room you are looking to add ceiling fan lighting to has a large number of windows or has ample sunlight coming through, then the brightness of the ceiling fan lighting is not as big a concern.  In this case, you should find ceiling fan lighting that compliments the overall look and style of the room.  If the room has a modern aesthetic, then contemporary ceiling fan lights, such as those that are metal or minimalistic in style would be a good match.

If you are looking to add ceiling fan lighting to a bathroom in your home, then you will want to look at ceiling fan light fixtures or ceiling fan light shades that are somewhat dim.  A bathroom does not need as much as light as, say a bedroom, and a slightly dark bathroom creates an elegant, upscale appearance.

A room that is darker in color (assuming it is not a bathroom) can definitely benefit from ceiling fan lighting.  In this scenario bright lights would be helpful to liven up the room.   If you are trying to achieve a brighter look using ceiling fan lighting, then it is wise to look at ceiling fan light fixtures that allow a good amount of light to pass through, or even amplify the amount of light to brighten up the room.  Any type of light fixture or shade that is clear and very transparent would be beneficial for this type of setting.
